Further Updated Draft

Where I need to improve.

The main image is out of focus and weak. The picture needs to be bolder to match the rest of the magazine.
The blue text needs to bolder and move over to the left hand side and be smaller.
secondary photo needs to move down.
All sell lines and anchorage is too long. They need to be punchier. (in the studio)
Footer is way too big.
Bar code is too big.
New main image is needed.

Updated Drafts

I cannot decide whether I should use a plain background, the union flag to represent the magazine's ideology or to have a totally different background.

Improvements

The photo is out of focus and the headline is in the wrong place.
The T-shirt my model is wearing is too low-key. As this is rock music, his T-shirt needs to be a more bold colour or louder.
The union flag needs to be my own photo.
The photo with the blue background needs to be gone.

Unused Photos

The reason i chose the picture I did is because i thought it was suitable to the magazine. I like the photos where the model (Joe) is banging the sticks together and the 5th one down but I thought they may give off a more aggressive impression to the readers. I did not want this to happen because this pose may be associated with heavier rock/metal. I also decided on the one i chose because he was pointing at the reader, which i thought might draw people to it.
However, I need to take another photo because the one I chose is slightly out of focus. The new photo will be the same pose though, although I will take multiple photos of multiple poses.

All of the above photos are way too weak. They WILL NOT be featured in my magazine at all. The photos do not connote rock music or alternative music. I need to make my photos punchier in order for them to fit with my ideology.

My Magazine Name

The name for my music magazine is going to be ANTHEM. I decided on this even though it was not in the survey I took. The 4 names that were in my survey weren't really conventional or fitting to the genre I have chosen. I will later take another survey and see if the target audience I am aiming my magazine at think it is a good and appropriate name.

1st Draft Of The Front Cover

This is a quick draft of a music magazine front cover. I have not used my own images for this however.
The reason I chose this picture was because the pose and image size is similar to what I want my model to do.

Digital Mock Up

This is my first digital mock up for my music magazine. It's missing some conventions such as a barcode but that will be corrected in futre mock ups(if there are going to be any) and in my final draft for the front cover.

Updated Genre Idea

Instead of being a general rock magazine I have decide to do a magazine that focuses on British rock bands/artists and British music festivals. This means that I will have a more narrow theme to explore, meaning that magazine will not be too general. By doing this it means I can use colour schemes and phrases that suit a British audience only. Foreign bands might still be mentioned as they will play festivals in Britain, so brief mentions of Blink 182, the Ramones, Sigur Ros etc, might be in the magazine.

Magazine Font/Type Style

The type and font styles i am going to use for my magazine are mostly eroded fonts. This is because I have found that they are conventional with rock magazines and suit the laid back, messy ideology of rock music.

The exception for this is going to be the double page spread. If the font on my double page spread is messy and eroded the reader will not be able to read it. Therefore, on my double page spread the font will be a clear and simple font.
